Out of curiosity: How often do you meet people who speak with that accent? Do you have any friends or relatives, for instance, who tend to speak that way?

No EU, I don't have any friends or relatives who speak that way. I don't really mix in Sloane rangerey/trust fund baby circles.  I have met one or two people who do, although it is being exaggerated a tad in the joke.

The mothers of some of the 'gels' I went to school with weren't far off  an "Air Hair Lair" accent - but I've never met anyone under 40 with as cut-glass an accent as that.  That will be the moderating influence of ITV, then?
