Many kudos, guys.
Perhaps you could elaborate more specifically about indirect questions?  What exactly does it mean?

I will REALLY appreciate any corrections to my posts, whether it be grammar, glossary, or just something that could elevate my style. Thank you.

Hi,

Perhaps you could elaborate more specifically about indirect questions?  What exactly does it mean?

The term 'reported questions' is also used.

Basically, the idea is that you hear someone ask a question and then you tell me (ie report to me) what the person said. You are not asking me a question, but simply telling me what the question was.

eg Tom: Does Mary speak Chinese?

John: Tom asked if Mary spoke Chinese.

Have you studied this kind of thing already?

Best wishes, Clive

Thank you very much, Clive.
So when we come across ''if'' followed by ''will/would'',  it is correct when it comes to indirect speech, right?
As for your question, no, I haven't; I study everything from this board.

Best wishes,
WA/Evi

Hi,

So when we come across ''if'' followed by ''will/would'',  it is correct when it comes to indirect speech, right? Write an example of what you are thinking of, and I'll comment, OK?
As for your question, no, I haven't; I study everything from this board. 'In direct speech' is quite a large topic. Dosome searches and look at what you find, but really a grammar book would give you a more comprehensive understanding. If you want to write some examples and post them, that's fine. if so, d
o it in the form of  Here is the direct speech. Then here is the same thing in indirect speech,

Best wishes, Clive,
