I am a English teacher teaching TOEIC in Korea.

yesterday, one of my Ss came to me and asked a question which was cloz filling type of grammar.

Q. "..a minute __ from downtown."

there were two options that made my student confused.

one was "away" and the other was "far"

she checked the answer was 'away' but wanted me to explain why 'far' wouldn't appropriate grammatically.

can anybody help me?

We do not use 'far' with measurement.

A:  How far are we from Pusan?

B:  We're about two hours away.

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master-- that's all.'
