1. Which song is the most appropriate for me to sing in her wedding ?
2. Which song is it the most appropriate for me to sing in her wedding ?

Please tell me which sentence is grammatically correct and why.  A friend of mine insists that only #2 is correct, while I thought #1 is making sense.

Thanks,

The first sentence is correct. There is an subject (song) and verb (is) so it is OK. In the second sentence...subject + verb + another subject (pronoun IT)??? it is nonsense

I the UK we would sing at someone's wedding, but perhaps 'in' may be OK in US usage?
