I don't think it's "have you (got) a headache". I'm pretty sure you can either say "Do you have" or "Have you got", and never "Have you" for posession.

Hello Marce,

"Do you have a..." and "Have you got a..." are both fine.

"Have you a..." is perhaps less common, in some dialects, but will also be heard.

Hi,

 

   This is Prakash.  I got this site very recently. me too have the same doubt.but i am not satisfied with any of this answer.

 

But what my guess is:

 

  For example:

 

  1. Do you know English?

      definetely i dont know whether you know english or not ? i need to confirm it.

 

  2. Have you got the book ?

      But here somewhat i assumed, you got that book. its like i'm raising a question for, whether my assumption is right?
