Basically, you use output from statistical applications such as PHStat or EView to explain or forecast some economic phenomena. It sounds interesting! From a time series data, you can build a model to forecast, for example, GDP of a country in the next 10 years or such as a thing! It's hard! But I think the harder thing is much more interesting than the easier one. Econometrics is really important for someone studying finance, want to become a business consultant or a bank teller. It's also very important if you want to become a CEO, CFO or other management positions! Probably it's hard if you are not really good at Maths!
