In the "Friends" TV show, 1-1:

Chandler says: "The problem is, though, after the concert's over, no matter how great the show was, you girls are always [looking for] the comedian again, y'know? I mean, we're in the car, we're fighting traffic... basically just trying to stay awake. "

What does the 'looking for' here mean?  Does it mean "Search for" or "Expect"?

Does the "[looking for] the comedian again" mean (1)the girls want to search for the same show again?

or (2) he means their girlfriends wanna watch the traffic fighting and think it is funny?

If it's the case (2), what about using 'looking for [some] comedian again'  instead of the "looking for [the] comedian again"?

Thanks in advance!

Hi

I think it needs a bit more context:

CHANDLER: Yeah, I think for us, kissing is pretty much like an opening act, y'know? I mean it's like the stand-up comedian you have to sit through before Pink Floyd comes out.

ROSS: Yeah, and-and it's not that we don't like the comedian, it's that-that... that's not why we bought the ticket.

CHANDLER: The problem is, though, after the concert's over, no matter how great the show was, you girls are always looking for the comedian again, y'know? I mean, we're in the car, we're  fighting traffic... basically just trying to stay awake.

RACHEL: Yeah, well, word of advice: Bring back the comedian. Otherwise next time you're gonna find yourself sitting at home, listening to that album alone.

Change "comedian" with "kiss" and "concert/show" with "having sex".
They are basically saying that girls want to be kissed even after the "show" is over, while boys regard kissing only as something that comes before the "show".

Thank you Tanit.
Much clear now. I was totally confused by these extravagant and baseless talks, just like the Ross and Joy. (i.e. I don't think Ross could understand their talks, either. Right?)

Thanks again!!

Hi,
You're welcome.

Actually, I reckon Ross understands perfectly what they're talking about! Just look again at what he says:

CHANDLER: Yeah, I think for us, kissing is pretty much like an opening act, y'know? I mean it's like the stand-up comedian you have to sit through before Pink Floyd comes out.
ROSS: Yeah, and-and it's not that we don't like the comedian, it's that-that... that's not why we bought the ticket.

So, he likes kissing, but  ... Smile

Thanks,  I can see now.

I think Joy is the only one who got confused, just like me had.  :)
