Hi,
I teach ESL and I had a student as me a question that I wasn't sure how to answer. He constructed a sentence and this is what is was:
"My stomach does not feel good."
Now he knew to use DOES not...but asked me why we don't use IS not.
He knows "My stomach is not feel good" doesn't sound right...but how can I explain why?
Review how to construct tenses with him/her.
Simple Present My stomach feels good / My stomach does not feel good.
Present Continuous My tomach is feeling good / My stomach is not feeling good.
He seems to be getting them mixed up in his mind. You could make him smile by asking him if he just wants to invent his own tense.
Best wishes, Clive
