People,

I was reading a text yesterday and I got some doubts about the word "due to". What it means? Could you give me some exemples?

Thanks a lot.

Due to means "because of", but there's some difference in their usage.
example: Due to his illness, he will not come to school todaySmile [:)]

In the exemple below, Is it means "because of" ?

"The suit is due to be heard next Monday in a regional court in nearby Bautzen, the court said Monday."

No: it is expected, it is scheduled/required to be heard

Go to:

select
due [1, adjective]
and see the meaning 6 there.
