Frankly, I don't think ANY anonymous posts should be permitted.

Ah, but sometimes the sheer randomness of the posts of the anonymous few who float in here from Google is a delight!

The inane comments from the mental midgets around here have dwarfed any degree of seriousness this question might have held. The short answer is that midgets are small but properly proportioned while dwarves are small but out of proportion, or distorted. Both terms are considered offensive by many, and are not to be tossed about lightly. They say "little people" is the preferred term. Good luck.

Dwarf mean "侏儒症" in Chinese, and midget mean "身材矮小". These two words all mean people with short stature while with normal inteligence.

Hello teachers!

What is the difference between the above mentioned words? My dictionary translates it as the same.

Thank you!

Hello!

I've started using the following website when my students ask these kinds of questions.  I've never had to answer 'dwarf' vs 'midget' before, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the website already had many aswers to that question.

If you have an overhead, the display on the website is very effective.  My students love the voting, too, so their attention stays with me ;-).

Yes... it has been a pretty disjointed string.  Please see my previous anser, found below.  And please, people, let the forum stay on track.
