If the green house is at the left of the white (which doesn't mean its a neighbor ) then I have this solution  Smile [:)]

green             blue            yellow          red               white

norwegian       german       swedish       brit               dane

coffee             water          milk             beer              tea

blend              prince         dunhill          bluemaster    pall mall

FISH               cat             dog              horse            bird

I checked it out, it's also correct

That leads us to a language paradox.

If "proximity" (as in 'to the left of') were to be merely relative, one can argue that the whole world resides towards one's left. It is just that how much of left is considered as "one's left".

That would mean to say, "you are at your left". That concept will disprove that you were where you were. For argument sake, you are to look for yourself in the left and you wont be able to find yourself. This further proves you do not exist.

That's where "with reference to" or "with respect to" play a major part in humanity and forms the basis of "Einstien's theory of relativity".

bleh, i would of gotten the answer, but i thought, for some reason that the person that owns the white house drinks the milk. LOL, if you reading the question, there's no way that that's possible...which explained me being stumped for an hour straight.....i probably would of gotten the answer in 15 minutes more if i didn't get let these darn kids getting it in 5 minutes, get to the best of me. i knew something was wrong with house order, due to the white house being in the wrong place...

i can see how you can get the white house to be the first house. the question never stated how the houses were arranged, so you can make the houses to form a loop, which makes a different a solution possible, which is the one with the first house being white. me like almost everyone else here assumed that the white house wasn't the first house, because the traditional arrangement of neighourhoods are for houses to be parallel to each other. those that found the answer in the other way should pat themselves for thinking outside of the box.
