Is Firemouse answer correct? I got the same result, though it took me about 20 minutes to organize the data.....that is why I need to confirm if I am part of that 2%..

Maybe I'm late but I have the answer, too. It took me about 30 minutes to solve.

The fourth man has the Fish. He's German. He smokes Prince and drinks coffee.

Hi Hitchhiker,
It took me about half an hour to solve this riddle. The correct method to do it is to make a table.  The thing I want  to know is from  where did you get this question?

Einstein wrote this riddle last century and said that 98% of the world’s population would not be able to solve it.

• There is a person of a different nationality in each house.

its quite easy when u have a piece of paper and a pen. but the wat Einstein done it was alot different.all i did was draw 5 houses and went though it putting the right things in the right catorgory. i hope i was right. it was worded different to the one i was given by a friend. i had wat they ate instead of brands of cigarettes.

What is the trick? I mean, I worked it all out and I think I did it, but you guys make it sound so easy. Maybe I was being too blind and totally just missed it? What's the catch? Oooh this is going to drive me bananas. Anyone want to email me the answer, or what they did that led them to it so easy? I'd just like to know...my email is abuley@hotmail.com

Thanks guys!

I just got this problem from one of my students Sandeep.  I did it in 14 minutes...probably similar to the way you did.  A simple chart matrix and disregard all the impossibilities.

I got the same answer but I figured out the fish before I had determined all the rest of the parts.

I don't know how anyone else did it but I just put the words in Paint and moved them around.
