Elements of running

Could one say:
"I have access to some of the elements of running this system"?

My problem is that "running a system" is a process, but the "elements" here seem to be things (machines, computers or at best programmes).

I agree, "elements of running" sounds awkward. Perhaps you could write:

I have access to some of the elements that run this system.

If you don't like the word "elements", and feel that it is unnecessarily vague, you could try:

I have access to some of the hardware on which this system is run.
