Hi Jane,

I promise that I will treat you to dinner since last time you paid me at Red Lobster.

This morning we were on the phone briefly. I didn’t know I was running out of words when you said you were not free today. Sometimes I tend to think that when we are on the phone, I feel kind of awkward. Then I get confuses and I don’t know what to say.

Before I called you, I was wondering whether you would be free today. When you said that you were not free, I should have said when you were available and what type of cuisine you like but I didn't. Sorry! I am somtimes sort of clumsy on the phone with you. I just don't know what the reason is.

Here is my plan:

I want to go to eat hotpot at Canal Street. I guess you might not like it when you look at the place. Like I said, my credo about food is cheap, plenty, and tasty. I guess the hotpot restaurant was kind of shabby. However, I like to go there. You know that I have to watch my pocket.

Just let me know what day is good for you. You know me; I am always free when I finish my work.

One other thing is that for the dinner I don't want to go to Red lobster or other fancy restaurants. You do want me to enjoy the food, don't you?

My best choice for the food is I would like to eat Chinese.

Much better approach! However, as you are inviting Jane out for dinner, it is more important that she enjoys the food, so I would delete the red sentence. Other minor changes in blue.
