Hi everyone,

I have read an article which predicted English will be the global language inevitably. Are there any different opinions?

hi,i read your topic,i think english has become  the most useful language now. That's why many ppls learn it~

i think in the next years, language chinese and Arabic will play more impotant role~Spanish is probably the most useful domestically. If you want to work for the government, Arabic might be useful. And if you want to do international business in the next few decades then Chinese will probably be the language of choice.

that's my opinionSmile [:)]

Do you mean "global language" in the sense of a global first language?  If that's the case, then I certainly don't think that it's inevitable that there will be only one global language, be it English or any other language.  If that narrow definition is not what you meant by "global language", then I would answer that English is already a global language.

Since businesses and corporations tend to expand around world countries, I believe English will become a global language soon.

It's bound to be, I have a presentiment. Chinese is too tought a language to become international.

I actually agree with this to some extent.  As long as English-speaking nations are players worldwide, Chinese will not take global root.  The average Westerner cannot handle the language with any competence.
