Present perfect is used when an event takes place from the past up till now, particularly when the event first happened in the recent past. Present perfect is usually used when you want to emphasise that the timing of the event (being in the past) is particularly important in what you're describing.

what What is the difference between present tense and present perfect tense?”
Let me illustrate with the verb work.

Present.

I, you, we, they           work

he, she, it, who?          works

Present perfect.

I, you, we, they           have worked

he, she, it, who?          has worked
