Hi All,

Can any body tell me the name of a fruit (or seed) of palm family. This is not a coconut. It is of black colour at ripening state and green at raw state. Its shape is spherical. It will be available in tropical places.

Thanks,
SRI

Hello!
I know nothing about palm trees and/or their fruits, but maybe this page might help you?

Thanks pieanne, but there I could not find the one I need.

In fact it is having a jelly inside which is edible.

Thanks,
SRI

I used to live in Malaysia and am trying to remember all the Asian fruits I used to eat (I've excluded obviously incorrect suggestions like Mango of course).

Apologies if any of these suggestions are clearly NOT what you're thinking of, but my knowledge of which fruits are palm related is quite limited. Any of the following:

Longan
Rambutan
Mungoosteen
Durian

Thanks rwiles, but I could not pick mine from your list. The fruit will have hard outer peal. We have to cut it with knife after that we will have two or three or four jelly kind of pieces. I know Mungoosteen, which is not I am thinking.
