Hi, first of all, thank you very so much for spending your time reading this. Here is a here i wrote for practice, and the topic is ""Agree or disagree with the following statement: “There has never been a better time to be alive than the present.”  Hope you can help me indicate the grammatical mistakes i made in the essay, and more in importantly, the structure of my essay. Please feel free to give me any comments you have on my essay. Thank you so much~

When I was young, I often heard some elderly people telling about their “good old days” and I was always fascinated at the world people lived in the past. After hearing a lot of stories from many elderly people, I start to believe the past seems to be a better time to be alive than the present. On one hand, environments in the past were more suitable for living, and on the other hand, people in the past seem to be more trustful and friendly. Although I have never experienced how it is like to live in the past, from the stories I have heard from elderly people, I am still in favor of living in the past.

It is true that technologies have brought convenience to people, but they also have brought many environmental problems, such as global warming. As the result, the world we are now living in is not as suitable for living as the world in the past. For example, my grandfather always tells me about all the fun, outdoor activities they did as the kids. However, nowadays kids living in the city do not play these games anymore; it is mainly because there are not much natural environments for them to go out and play, and plus, it is much too hot to play outside than it was in the past. Having lived the better environments, people in the past seemed to be more healthy, which made the past the better time to be alive.

Not only the environments have changed, but people have also changed as the time goes by. In my grandfather’s time, people seemed to be more trustful and amiable. For instance, my grandfather said that people in the past would not have to worry about their home safety not much; they believed people had good moral senses that they would not do anything illegal, and indeed, stealing rarely happened in their time. Moreover, they often left their doors open to welcome their neighborhoods to visit; in contrast, today people rarely interact with their neighborhoods. Above all, I would much rather to live in the past, in which I could feel more warmness from people.

World in the past has a lot of difference than the world in the present, and in particularly, the living environments were better and people were more friendly in the past; these two differences make the past the better time to be alive. However, after all, we can never go back to the past. But what we can do are to enjoy every moment of our lives, and to try to make our lives better.

You're contradicting yourself.  You kept talking about how the good old days were better but then you came to a different conclusion.
