I have a phobia of writing.  I have put off my English classes in college until the very end.  Now they are inevitable!

So now I need to write an essay and I have no clue as to where to start?  Can anyone give useful tips on a thesis statement?

My Essay is arguing for the presence of discriminitoray harassment polices on college campuses.  I wrote that:

I believe that discriminatory harassment policies should be present on college campuses because:

-          to prevent harassment

-          to protect students

-          to ensure the safety of students

-          to ensure equality

Now I heard that a thesis needs to describe the whole essay and it can be fairly long.  I was thinking of saying something like

Discriminatory harassment policies should be present on college campuses because the ensure the safety of students on campus and they promote equality on campus.

Tell me what you think?  Thank you for all your help!

Hi,

Here's a small initial comment.

Consider your terms. 'A harassment policy' sounds like a policy that is in favour of harassment, just like a 'safety policy' favours safety,

Instead, speak of 'an anti-harassment policy' or 'a policy against harassment'.

Best wishes, Clive
