How to explain ACROSS in this sentence?

I recently encountered an article about snakehead fish. It says in the article: The main distribution of the snakehead fish is found in the Indo-Pacific area with twenty-five species found from the Amur across China, Indonesia, Burma, western India, Sri Lanka and into the tropical areas of Africa.

Does the bolded part mean that the Amur is stretched from one end of China to the other end OR the Amur area and the areas in China (which are two concepts)?

Cheers

Hi,

It means an area that begins at the Amur and extends across all those countries, including the tropical areas of Africa.

Best wishes, Clive

My anatomy is good, my geography is lost. Perhaps you can help by telling us where (and what) the Amur is. Is it a part of China?

Good health,
Dr Nick :-)

(Oops, sorry Clive. It seems we posted at almost the same time - again :-)  )

The Amur River or Heilong Jiang (Russian: Амур; Simplified Chinese: 黑龙江; Traditional Chinese: 黑龍江; Pinyin: Hēilóng Jiāng, or "Black Dragon River"; Mongolian: Хар Мөрөн, Khar Mörön or "Black River"; Manchu: Sahaliyan Ula, literal meaning "Black River") is the world's eighth longest river, forming the border between the Russian Far East and Northeastern China.
