Are any of you genealogists (those who study family history)? Are you simply in love with history? If yes, perhaps you can help me.

I'm writing a paper for school concerning why people love to study history and genealogy as much as they do. Below are a few questions, and I'd really like for you to answer them. Just answer any or all of them, whatever you wish to do. Any help recieved will be greatly appreciated.

1.Why do you believe people find history so alluring?

2. What other interests and hobbies do you have besides history/genealogy?

3. How long have you been interested? What initially spurred your interest in history/genealogy?

4. How have your feelings and opinions changed toward your pursuit over time?

5. How/where do you do your research?

6. Have you ever been surprised or amused by your discoveries?

7. Can you suggest any other sources of information for me?

8. Any final thoughts?

If you don't mind, I'd also like to know your age and location.

If you'd like, you can also email me at [e-mail address removed by mods, please add it to your profile]

Thanks so much!

Hi! It happens to me to be involved in a genealogical research right now, but I'm not a genealogist. Anyway I thought to reply your post, maybe I could help you.

1.Why do you believe people find history so alluring?

Because history is part of our present lives: our present lives can be nothing without a history behind, so I think that everyone is interested in knowing their roots.

2. What other interests and hobbies do you have besides history/genealogy?

Science and music.

3. How long have you been interested? What initially spurred your interest in history/genealogy?

Not so much, just 2 months. Everything has started thanks to a person who lives far away from my town and needed my help for searching his ancestors here in my town.

4. How have your feelings and opinions changed toward your pursuit over time?

I'm interested in genealogy everyday more.

5. How/where do you do your research?

I usually look it up in old registries in the Parish or General Registry Office Archives.

6. Have you ever been surprised or amused by your discoveries?

Sure, every little thing I discover is a surprise for me! Amused? Not really.

7. Can you suggest any other sources of information for me?

Actually I don't think I could, I should know what exactly you are looking for!

8. Any final thoughts?

No, I guess what I've already told is enough Smile

If you don't mind, I'd also like to know your age and location.
