Hi,
please help me with the following sentence.
"You're the favored fews." This is not grammatical. I'm sure they said 'few', not 'fews'.
I heard this in the movie 'Chariots of Fire'.
The speaker was talking to runners, who were chosen for the 1920 Olympic game held in France.
The runners are talented and highly motivated to win.

I'm not sure if what I heard is correct.
In the above context, does "favored fews" make sense? Yes. They are a small group of fortunate people. In the movie, the general idea is that they are 'the best of their generation'.
Best wishes, Clive
