please help me with the following sentence.

 "You're the favored fews."

I heard this in the movie 'Chariots of Fire'.

The speaker was talking to  runners, who were chosen for the 1920 Olympic game held in France.

The runners are talented and highly motivated to win.

 ----------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure if what I heard is correct.

In the above context, does "favored fews" make sense?

Hi,

please help me with the following sentence.

"You're the favored fews." This is not grammatical. I'm sure they said 'few', not 'fews'.

Yes. They are a small group of fortunate people. In the movie, the general idea is that they are 'the best of their generation'.

Best wishes, Clive

Thank you for your response, Clive.

My English has a lot of room for improvement.

I have to work hard to improve my listening skills.
