Hi Sara,
I was just getting references from various sources. As for the IQ-point, it was taken from this website. http://www.macalester.edu/psychology/whathap/ubnrp/intelligence05/Nintro.html
And to all who I may/have offended, I sincerely apologise albeit with the knowledge that a forum allows free opinions as I could actually refrain from writing something offensive.
Apologies.

I am more than what my expectations are. I am more than what my potential would be.

Stephen Jay Gould voiced his objections to intelligence testing in general, in his book  The Mismeasure of Man.

Some researchers in artificial intelligence have argued that "Mental ability tests measure differences in tasks that will soon be performed for all of us by computational agents. Such abilities probably have nothing to do with genius."

Intelligence expert Howard Gardner notes:

I do not believe that there is a single general talent, whether it be called intelligence, creativity. I do not locate talents completely within the human skull, preferring to construe all accomplishments as an interaction between cognitive potentials on the one hand, and the resources and opportunities provided by the surrounding culture on the other....All intellectual and creative work takes place within some kind of social discipline, craft, or organized activity, termed a domain. Accordingly, there is no sense in which one can speak about a person as being intelligent, or creative, in general.

Philip Kitcher wrote:

Many scientists are now convinced that there is no single measure of intellectual ability - no unitary intelligence. Their suspicion of the concept of general intelligence is based on the view that various intellectual capacities are not well correlated. ....it is useful to continue to expose the myth of "general intelligence".

You can take many things from many websites. Here are some.

To you my friend - Stannum. =) This is the 1st time I'm using a forum other than my school's one. It is not at my fingertips yet, my apologies for the confusion.
Thanks mate,

I thought so but as I have been castigated for my comments I was eager to emphasise the point.

Thanks for the reference, Epitome – I'm sure the comments were directed at the source, rather than you personally.

All the best,

I can see no possible offence in your quoting of that widly known and heavily derided statistic.  It will obviously earn you extra points for your essay.

Don't kid yourself aboutt he freedom of speech aspect of this forum.

It is far from a democracy.  More like a Theocracy.

Oh, well, not so obviously, my dear Stannum...

There's the remote possibility that the person who is to give him extra points for his essay belongs to the very rare species of intelligent women, you know.

I woudn't want to bet as to his success, if that were the case.

So, Alexa and Sara are the same person, aren't they?

Point number one:

No. But I'm awfully proud that you think so. I'd rather be taken for an obviously intelligent woman than for an obviously silly one.

Well, each person has it's opinion (is it said in this way?Tongue Tied [:S]), if he wants to belive so, why won't you let him? Of course I don't think men are much intelliget than women, but some think they are as well as some women think the opposite. As far as I know, we are still free to give a opinion.

Point number two:

Each person has his or her opinion. The pronoun "it" is used for things or animals. Not persons.

And if you want to make a comparison, you should use "more", not much.

P
P.S: So, my idea of the South seems be accurate...

Point number three:

If you would be so kind so as to explain me your idea of the South, maybe I'll be able to correct it as well.

The poster was free to give his opinion and I was free to give mine. I'm not as conceited so as to think he will change his opinion because I don't agree with it.

And the answer to that question of yours "if he wants to belive, why won't you let him?"

is that I'm not a damned Nazi. I'm not imposing anything on anyone.

But I claim my right to disagree. We have still not reached Huxley's 1984 situation, or have we?

Dear users,

We are doing our utmost to keep our forums as unrestricted as possible. Please help us! Different people have different sensitivities, and these should be considered. On the other hand, this is a place for debate, and everyone involved should realise that debates can be heated and emotive.

Participants are requested to exercise due tolerance toward fellow participants and consideration for their feelings. Conversely, it should be remembered that debates can often be unsettling, and this IS a place for debate.

At the risk of my mailbox getting stuffed, I invite anyone with grievances to PM me directly.

Cheers :-)

I have never said I had proved that coloured people are less intelligent than white ones; what I'm saying is that it is an statement as absurd as the one which says that women are less intelligent than men.

I don't think anyone's accusing you of doing so, Sara: the comment was directed at a different member.

All the best,

MrP

PS: It's better to avoid the term "coloured people", by the way. It's generally considered derogatory these days.

I haven't got the least idea what it is considered in America derogatory or not. It is not derogatory in my native language and country. And I hope it was understood as such.
