Hi,

1. What's the difference between 'quench' and 'quell'? Each has various meanings. Plese try to write a few sentences, and we can see if you are using these terms correctly.

2. retroactive: of a law that dates back to a period before its enactment.  What does it mean by 'date back'?Here's an example. I pass a law today that says it's illegal for you to sneeze. Then I put you in jail today because you sneezed last week, ie before I passed the law.

3. He fixed the World's Series. What does fix mean here? He arranged who would win before the games were played, probably by bribing the players.

I believe that today the name is the 'World Series'.

Best wishes, Clive
