Dear Teachers,

1. I want to believe that he's not cheating on her.

- "cheat on her" here means "cheat her about everything", right?

2. When reading over your situation, one word just kept popping into my head.

- What does "pop into my head" mean here?

3. There's a very wise saying "when in doubt, do without".

- This means "when you doubt, you shouldn't do it", right?

4. I think the best way you can tell your parents is to just sit them down, and flat out tell them.

- "flat out tell them" here means "tell them exactly what is on your mind", right?

5. I'm your best friend as well as your sister, so don't be so formal in our behaviour.

- Is this natural?

Thanks very much to Teachers,

 Stevenukd.

1. no, it means that he is secretly seeing/having sex with another woman.

2. suddenly comes to mind, keeps appearing in my thoughts

3. do without - go without something, not have/buy something

4. Yes, just tell them as straighforwardly as possible.

5. no, because 'our' behaviour includes your own behaviour as well as your sister's. ..so we needn't be so formal, or don't be so formal with me, or don't behave so formally, or don't be so formal in your behaviour.
