hi,

what is the meaning of " floats your boat"?

I found that in the following sentence?

Our people generally get more chance for direct client contact so if that floats your boat, it may be more appealing compared to others

Hi, Uktous. Welcome to the Forums.

In the very sentence you provided us with it means that - if your people's main task, ability or goal is to get the direct contacts with clients, it means your company is driven by this notion and it is the main trend of company. It is similar to the boat that floats in the sea driven by waves. Waves here can be your goals. Do you get it?

what What is the meaning of " floats your boat"?”
"appeals to you"; "makes you happy"; "interests you"; "is enjoyable for you" -- very informal.

Our people generally get more chances for direct contact, so if that [floats your boat / appeals to you / works for you / is what you like / is something you enjoy], it may be ....
