Dew, I don't think that religion is a lack of freedom. I can do what I like. I have free will. Nobody orders me for example to go to the church or to obey the Ten Commandments or the Chief Commandments of the Church.
But if I want to go to the church (for example I feel the need to do that because I believe that it is morally good) and somebody prohibits my religion and forbids me to follow religious observances - that's a violation of freedom.

Muslimah, as far as I can see this thread is about freedom and not about good or bad sides of religion. We speak of Freedom. And Iwant to make my point clear - religion is a restriction of Freedom itself.

Dew, religion is not a restriction of freedom when it is your conscious choice. It would be a restriction if somebody  force you to practise a religion against your will.

Dominik, Religion is a VOLUNTARY restriction of freedom. If you want live within its frames - you are free to do it. For you - it may be regarded as freedom - for me a kind of captivity.
In fact every person is free to choose a cage to live in.

In my subjective opinion, the goal of religion ( at least mine ) is clear, FREEDOM from chaotic -reedom, and FREEDOM from logicless thinking.

Dear Dew it very much depends on your understanding of freedom. We live within the law unless we choose to be imprisoned. The law allows others to be free of those who seek to harm society. We are certainly not free to do as we choose. Imagine the chaos that would cause. Certainly a belief in God sets you free to serve. Hence those with a belief equating freedom with a belief in God. You obviously have your own interpretation of freedom. What is it?

We all have different interpretations and opinions regarding freedom.  It is a part of freedom right ?

That's why we all are here.  For discussing things while knowing each other.

When freedom does not have a purpose, when it does not wish to know anything about the rule of law engraved in the hearts of men and women, when it does not listen to the voice of conscience, it turns against humanity and society.
John Paul II
