I encountered this sentence:

I could tell from the frightened look on her face that something terrible happened.

Why it is 'frigntened look'? why  not 'frigntening look'?

thanks

Hi

"Frightened look" means "expression of fear". "Frightening look" would imply that the woman's face causes fear to others.

"frightened look" means the woman looked frightened/afraid. If her looks had caused fright to the others, they would have been frightening.
