Hi,

Please have a look at this:

As the tsunami moved from Wall Street to Main Street, it drove a growing circle of companies into bankrupcy.

Does 'Main street' have any implication of the British financial center?

Many thanks,

Nessie.

No.  Wall Street is the financial center of the US.  Main Street is the financial center of the individual cities or local municipalities.

The implication is that in the beginning the storm was obvious (or felt) only by the major financial institutions, but it was eventually felt  by all of us in our local financial dealings, and by the companies who existed to do business on a local level.
