In a Budapest zoo: Please do not feed the animals. If you have any suitable food, give it to the guard on duty.
In certain zoos, it quite common for the public to feed ducks with popcorn, monkeys and elephants with bananas, giraffes and camels with processed food pellets. Here popcorn, bananas and food pellets being "suitable" food for certain animals.
What the Budapest officials would have meant is, to impose on the zoo visitors NOT to personally feed the animals whatever they brought, instead give the stuff to the guard on duty, who would inturn feed the animals on behalf of the visitors. May be to ensure the safety of the public and the animals.
However, the statement sounds as if the visitors are asked to feed the guard.
