 Is this sentence correct?

My dog has black hair.

Maybe I should use the word fur instead?

Hi,

For dogs, we commonly use the word 'coat'.

My dog has a black coat.

If the dog sheds, it has fur.  If not, it has hair.

The undercoat of a dog, the part that sheds, makes it a dog that has a fur coat rather than a dog that has a hair coat.  That undercoat can actually be spun into yarn!
