Hi everyone!

Hello English Gurus, I need help. I'm very, totally confused here...

Is "gamblings" a word? Or a noun? Or anything at all in English language?

Is "populars" a word? Or a noun? Or anything at all in English language?

I can't seem to find anything in the dictionaries.

Thank you!

Popular is an adjective and therefore does not have a plural.

Gambling  is a noun and is uncountable.

Umm... how about "Voodoos?"

I am hardly an expert in Voodoo, and it's POSSIBLE that there are mutliple forms of Voodoo, so that you could perhaps say "The Voodoos practiced in the mainland USA vary in several important ways from the original form of Voodoo that evolved in the Carribean islands." or something like that.

HOWEVER, I have never seen Voodoo as anything other than a non-count noun or adjective. She practices Voodoo. Do you believe in Voodoo? She gave me a Voodoo doll for Christmas and it's already stuck with all the pins I could find in my sewing kit.

PS - Has anyone yet said "Welcome to the  English Forums" to you? If not, Welcome to the English Forums!

Barbara, who answers in American English. My housekeeping skills attest to the truth of the second law of thermodynamics: Left to themselves, things get more and more random!

Thank you feebs, ray and barbara!

My knowledge is growing thanks to all of you here in englishforum! :)

By the way, I just donated 3000 grains of rice at freerice.com. It looks like the highest level is 60, huh? Well, I just learned tons of words that I thought never even existed before! -- is my sentence correct?

Words like... kamahi, thalweg, alvine, maltha, amaranthine, romaji, anaglyph, disme, etc.

Just amazing.

Well, I just learned tons of words that I never even knew existed before. (If you "thought they didn't exist" it means you would have thought about them before and decided they were not words. I expect they were entirely new to you, and you'd never thought about them before.)

Words like... kamahi, thalweg, alvine, maltha, amaranthine, romaji, anaglyph, disme, etc.

Are any of those English words??

Yes, I guess they are all English words.

Check the dictionaries! :)
