Hello all,

Thank you for reading this message.

My question is related to plural/singular verb agreements. What is the general rule of thumb to know how to know which agreements the verb takes?

Per exemple, the following phrase:

"Applying the proper e-marketing strategies gives you the ability..."

Does the verb give require a S because its singular as the proper e-marketing strategies, or the agreement is plural as there is more than one strategy?

I hope I make myself clear.

Thanks,

David

The singular verb, 'gives',  is used because the subject, 'Applying' (a gerund) is uncountable.
