Hello,

1. It is useful to learn to swim when you are young.

I have to cheange the infinitive form  of  the verbs into gerund form and have to rewrite the sentence.

a) It is useful learning to swim when you are young.

b) It is useful learning swimming when you are young.

Which one is correct (a or b)?

You can also say these:

Learning to swim when you are young is useful.
