Cause when the music stops, you can't be standin' there,
if you wanna be a winner at musical chairs

In the final round

Now it's the moment of truth, it's gettin' down the wire,
you're burnin' up the side with musical fire.

What does the sentence 'getting down the wire' and 'you're burning up the side' mean?

Thank you so much!

I haven't heard "up the side."

"Getting down the wire" is a shortened form of "It's/we're getting down to the wire."  I understand "the wire" to be the marker for the end of a race. "It's getting down to the wire" is a very common expression meaning, "It's time for us to make a decision," or "We'll soon know who the winner is," or "We'll soon know what the answer is/will be."
