I am a Christian.  My opinion as regards Muslims per se is that they are also humans who have their own beliefs which I do believe everyone should respect as they, too, respect other religions.  I have a lot of Muslim friends and I can say that they are really nice.  However, there's one thing against my belief as a Christian that can be a barrier to having marital commitments with Muslims.  And this is polygyny.

God sometimes allows us to feel pain in order for us to appreciate the mere comfort of just being ok.

hi dear.....

i think you mean polygamy....

ok this word means having more than a single wife at the same time...

i know it is something strange to you as a christian...but look...

Allah provides us with all the rules that help us to be happy in this lif and the life after...and this is our belief....

as a woman simply i can't accepy my husband to marry another and this is nature ...all women dont accept this regardless of their religion....

But sometimes there is exceptions, for example the wife can not give birth to children for one reason ar another(the problem i mean here is with the woman)and he loves her very much....in this case he is allowed to marry another woman but he must treat the other woman equally ....

this is an example i dont know whether you agree with me or not......

Hi Intelligent Freak,

I would like to add something. I'm a Muslim girl from Egypt, the majortiy of my friends are christians i do love and respect them more than you imagen. i know there is alot of stuff againist your beliefs in our religion but let me tell you something, in Qoran ( the holy book of muslims) the concept of marriage is simple the guys have the right to marry more than one women. The condition which Islam lays down for permitting a man to have more than one wife is confidence on his part that he will be able to deal equitably but god mentioned that guys will not be able to do justice among them. Technically in our religion god give them the right but he mentioned that they won't be able to deal equitably so its like don't go for it only for serious reasons or solution of a complex situations. its hard to imagen it but it doesn't happen that much, and if it does only because guys love to use all the available options even if god told them you won't be able to or don't go for it only if necessary , what can i say more than GOD IS WATCHING  Smile [:)]

thanks Nanoo for your opinion....

i want to add that ...this doesn't mean that all muslims must marry more than one woman...but there must be conditions...the man should treat the 2 women equally and in the same way as possible as he can....

Hello there.  Yeah, sorry, what I actually meant there was polygamy, I was a bit distracted during that time because I was talking to a friend over the phone while typing.  Anyway, enough of my justifications...

I am against that particular belief because of course aside from the fact that it is a sin for us Christian to have more than one partner,  I am a very jealous type of person and I can never imagine myself sharing my husband with his other wives, I can NEVER stand such situation, no matter how equally and fairly we'll be treated.  Let me share with you one thing.  I used to go out with a Muslim guy (he's also Egyptian like Nanoo).  Right from the very begining, I've known already that the guy is already married and so I thought I would never fall for him, we'd just go out for dinner, watch movies, that's it.  But eventually I did fall in love with him, I even wanted him to divorce his wife.  He didn't want to because he said his wife has never done him any wrong and it would be unfair to do that to her.  And so, I quitted.  That is why I am so against polygamy.

hi Intelligent Freak,,,

i know your feeling because i'm also a woman and jealosy is something part of us(WOMEN)

but sometimes there are cases in which the man is forced to marry moe than one woman ,althogh some men do it just for preasure...

falling with a married woman is not good thin(sorry for saying this),because if you are in the place of that man's wife you will not accept it ,right????personally i will not like any woman to come and take my husband....

so how you did it and also you want him to divorce that poor wife?????

thanks

and i;m as a muslim i can't imagine my life without Islam....Islam is in every movement we made ...it is in every breath we take...Islam gives us strength, power, satisfaction, happiness...even if our lives are full of sadness or ordeal....because Allah is always there!!!!

thanks alot

Don't know much about Islam, apart from the fact that Muhammad was the founder and the followers praise Allah. From those facts, I see a parallelism with Christian religion, change Muhammad for Jesus and Allah for God. Like Christianity, has violent followers (Intifada, WTC,..) are what Crusaders and Inquisition were for Christians. All in all, I feel happier being an atheist.

No big difference, just different systems of belief that appeared during  an epoch in which people were utterly ignorant, and there was no media to report on the supposed miracles, or cameras to record them. Keep in mind that in modern times no important religion has flourished, the only that have appeared are called cults or sects, and some are extremely dangerous.
