Dear teacher,

There are more examples, but this cross-section should give You a pretty good taste.

How to paraphrase "give sb. a pretty good taste"?

Thank you very much.

Hi,

There are more examples, but this cross-section should give you a pretty good taste.

How to paraphrase "give sb. a pretty good taste"? It's hard to say without some context. Perhaps 'give someone a useful sample' or 'give someone a good understanding of . . . '.

Best wishes, Clive

Think of a cake - it has a few layers, some filling, some frosting... if you have one little bite, you might taste the frosting, but not the entire cake. But if you take a bigger bite, you can get a sense of what the entire cake tastes like. So, this cross-section of examples gives you a good sense of what the entire [whatever it is] is like.
