Longman Active Study English—Chinese Dictionary (Second
Edition) is a good dictionary for the Intermediate English
learners. It aims at helping them to consolidate their English
foundations ulteriorly (wrong choice of word) and have
deeper understandings about this language from every aspect, then
enhancing their abilities of learning and using English.
Comparing with other dictionaries of the same kind, this dictionary
shows the following features:
On the one hand, the content contained is very rich. (The
whole sentence doesn't add anything to your writing)
There are more than 45,000 entries and 55,000 sample sentences. Among
which, (delete - shouldn't be used at the beginning of a
sentence) The dictionary embodies (incorporates) about
2000 new words created in the 21st century (redundant,
implied in "new") to help us keep up with the
development of (redundant) our time.
Moreover, because the (delete) language teaching and
learning focus more and more on the training of (delete)
communicative ability, this dictionary offers many
materials (be specific) of oral English as well, which can
help users improve their language social (doesn't make
sense) ability.
Besides (words deleted), it also provides other

arranges the word definitions according to appearance
frequency of words in Longman’s data-base. The users can
compare and select the words that can express their meaning

What’s more, it also use (agreement) one to three asterisk
to mark the words which are among the 1000—3000 most
general words, such as, “**anxious” belongs to the 2001—3000
most general words while “*apart” belongs to the 1000
most general words. This ensures the accurate use of word without
fail (awkward).
