Hi Teo,

"Giving birth to". Hmm. I think theremust be another good way of saying this but I can't find now.

If you don't now the sex of the baby, use "baby", if you know choose "a boy" or" a girl" not "a daughte"r or "a son".

"Did you hear that Linda give birth to a girl?"

"Oh, really. I am happy for her. She has a daughter now!".

To give birth to" is fine, or, you  could just use "had":

Did you hear Linda gave birth / became a mum / had a baby / has had another baby? She had a little girl.

Thank you Huevos, "to become a mum" sounds nice to me. Smile

'given birth to a baby' is the only one that sounds odd to me - what else could she give birth to? (Unless she wants to earn a $100,000,000 selling her story to the press, lol).
