Hi,

I'm new to the forum and it looks very professional. I'm an English Lecturer in Israel and have a law degree as well. I'm starting to teach a legal English course next week. Do you have any recommendations (besides the book "American Legal English" by U of Michagan Press) for good teaching books?

Thanks,

Noa

Clear and Effective Legal Writing, Vedra R. Charrow and Myra K. Erhardt (Boston: Little, Brown, 1986, 356 pages).

Here's a review.

English Grammar in Use (by Raymond Murphy) is more for general English than Legal English.

Noa, for anyone teaching Legal English, the book "Plain English for Lawyers" by Richard Wydick is a must.  It's from Carolina Academic Press and is now in its fourth or fifth edition.  It's a small book and has many exercises with answers (great for in-class group work), and has additional exercises that can be taken home and turned in for teacher evaluation as the answers are in the Teacher's Manual.  I've used it with great success for years with US law students and international LE students.

Hi,
There is the book Legal Terminology by Pearson Education, this is much better than an American one. They also have Legal English book, which is not perfect, but OK. For law for Contract and Company Law check Chartrand English for Contract and Company Law! The Best. Published by Sweet and Maxwell.
