In the contemporary world, television becomes an indispensable part of our daily life. Watching television is not so boring as reading books and it provide an opportunity for us to learn knowledge more directed and vivid. But at the same time, a controversy has arisen about form which people can learn more, watching television or reading books. Speaking for myself, I think we can learn more from reading books.

On the one hand, books contain more knowledge than television programs. First, we can only learn some subjects systematically in textbooks. Maybe some programs such as National Geography and Discovery offer some scientific programs, but there is no systematically education which is performed on a channel. Besides, almost channel perform soap opera and we can not learn any knowledge from this programs. On the contrary, many books afford various meaningful knowledge which is necessary for our daily live or specialization.

On the other hand, there are many programs offer on television, but unfortunately, we can not control the time of performing of programs. Obviously, sometimes when we are busy in our work, we will lose an opportunity to obtain some new knowledge from the program which we plan to watch. Nevertheless, we can read our books whenever we like so that we will not lose any choices to learn new knowledge. For instance, if we want to watch a program which will talk about how the Titanic struck against the iceberg but unluckily we are busy when the grogram is perform, we will lose the option to know that; however, if we buy a book about that, we can read it when we are free.

Lastly, we can read books wherever we want. For example, we can read some scientific magazines such as National Geography on trains, buses, underground, or at office when we are having a rest so that we can have more time the gain knowledge. But for watching television, it is not so convenient as reading because we can not always carry a television with us.

Altogether, in my opinion, we can learn much more from books. In the first place, books afford more knowledge for readers. Moreover, readers can choose the time and place to read books which is more convenient for them. In a word, people can have more choice to gain knowledge form books.
