Which of these two sentenses is grammatically correct?

(a) Whose is this house? (b) Which is this house?

Both are grammatically correct, but only A seems a usual thing to ask-- 'who is the owner?'  B could be used in certain circumstances, as when trying to match a photograph to the house itself.

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master-- that's all.'
