Dear Teachers, could you please check the following sentences for grammar and vocabulary?
Hunger has the power of an atomic bomb in the lives of children who are its prey. Gradually but surely, it erodes their emotional and physical stamina; it drowns their hopes and dreams; it erases their smiles; it extinguishes every ray of light in their innocent eyes. So often we think hunger resides far away from our homes- like Africa. Unfortunately, this is untrue.
Mercilessly, hunger holds in its claws the children, in our community, at Meadowlark School. Going without a crumb of bread for a couple of days is not unusual for those children. So we plead with the goodness and generosity of your hearts to donate as much food as you can this Christmas season. Let’s bring back smiles in those children’s faces, joy into their hearts, and awareness that they are not alone in their battle with hunger.
Thank you very much for your help!!

Hi Spring,
Here you go:
Hunger has the destructive power of an atomic bomb in the lives of children who are its prey. Gradually but surely it erodes their emotional and physical stamina, it drowns their hopes and dreams, it erases their smiles and it extinguishes every ray of light in their innocent eyes. Very often we think hunger resides far away from our homes, as in Africa; but unfortunately, this is untrue. Mercilessly, hunger holds in its claws the children in our community, at Meadowlark School. Going without a crust of bread for two days is not unusual for those children. So we plead with the goodness and generosity of your hearts to donate as much food as you can this Christmas season. Let’s bring back smiles to those children’s faces and joy into their hearts, and let them know that they are not alone in their battle with hunger.
Good luck with your charity drive.

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master-- that's all.'
