Hi, everyone.

I came across the sentece below, and I don't get it.

Help me understand the meaning and structure of the sentece.

Especially the underlined is hard to analyze.

"Everybody thinks cold cases are strictly DNA and fingerprint evidence run through the computer," Jackson said.

I run the evidence through the computer.

I ran the evidence through the computer.

I have run the evidence through the computer.

The evidence is run through the computer.

The evidence was run through the computer.

The evidence has been run through the computer.

run is the past participle of the verb to run, which means to process in this context.

T509
DNA and fingerprint evidence run through the computer
DNA and fingerprint evidence which is processed through the computer -- which is made to pass through the computer.

Thanks, CJ.

Now I understand the sentence like this.

It is thought about cold cases that they have already gone through strict DNA and fingerprint tests.

What do you say?
