yeah, 50 cent just thinks that because he got shot ,hes a gangster rapper, but its true, all he does is mumble a few words which rhyme at the end. rapping is all about some tight lyrics and a heavy beat, but all 50 cent has got is a liking for pimps, clubs, and a few 'Average' beats which dont even come close to the pro rappers.

Its hard to really tell what the greastest hip-hop/rap song is.

There is so much sub-genres in hip-hop.

Rappers Delight by the Sugar Hill Gang started it all, Run DMC and The beastie Boys invented a different flow of Hip-Hop, and NWA was the start of profanity on the mic. The westcoast and the east coast in the early to mid 90's invented their own style, which started "beef" between the two.

Sorry, I seem to be more explaing the history of hip hop and not actualy listsing songs lol.

I'd say all the "real" songs lies within the 80's.

Slick Rick- The Show, Childrens Story, Ladi Dadi

UTFO- Roxane, Roxane

The Gucci Crew- Sally, that Girl

Whodini- The Freaks Come Out at Night

Whistle- Just Buggin'

Grand Master Flash- The Message, White Lines

Kurtis Blow- The breaks

Run DMC- Rock Box, Walk this way, Peter Piper, King of Rock

Beastie Boys- The entire "License to Ill" albulm.

Early/mid 90's:

Snoop Dogg- Nuthin but a G thang, murder was the case, gin and juice, deep cover

Ice Cube- Today was a good day

Gangstarr- Mass appeal, skillz

Wu-tang Clan- M.E.A.T.H.O.D Man

Jay-Z- Hard Knock Life

Notorious B.I.G- The what, Who shot ya, Notorious, Hypnotize, Warning, Sky's the limmit, One more chance, Juicy, Me & my ***, Respect, Gimme the loot, Mo Money Mo Problems, Big Poppa

Digable Plantes- Rebirth of Slick

Ol' Ditry ***- Shimmy Shimmy ya

DJ Kool- Let me clear my throat

LL Cool J- Doin It

Sorry but most of these songs people have listed didnt do anything for hip-hop, I agree with some though. I really think the greatest song in hip-hop was Grandmaster Flash - The message , it was flawless. The lyrics ment something unlike todays efforts. People need to wake up and realise the greatest song ever was not by snoop dogg or eminem.
