Dear Teachers,

1. He helps me around the house.
- This means “ He helps me do everything in the house”, right?

2. He had been having an affair for 6 months.

- What does “ Having an affair’ mean?

3. She loves him very much and she wants to grow old with him.

- This means “ She loves him very much and she wants to live forever with him”, right?

4. – Don’t be in a rush to put the lantern down.
- Don’t be hurry / don’t be in a hurry to put the lantern down.

- Are these two sentences natural and the same meaning?

5. Who else do you like in this class besides Mary?
- Is this ok to say?

6. - Deep inside I hope you feel it too.

- Waited on a line of greens and blues.

- Just to be the next to be with you.

- What does " Waited on a line of greens and blues" mean?

Thanks a lot to Teachers,

Stevenukd.

1-- perhaps not everything, but at least some things.
2-- having an extra-marital relationship which in all likelihood includes sex.
3-- Yes
4-- 'Don't be hurry' is wrong, but in a hurry is right and has the same meaning as in a rush.
5-- Fine, but maybe you're being overcurious.
6-- No idea, sorry.

Hello Stevenukd.

Here is the rest of the song. It might help others to interprete it as I cannotEmotion: smile

Hold on little girl
Show me what he's done to you
Stand up little girl
A broken heart can't be that bad
When it's through, it's through
Fate will twist the both of you
So come on baby come on over
Let me be the one to show you

I'm the one who wants to be with you
Deep inside I hope you feel it too
Waited on a line of greens and blues
Just to be the next to be with you

Build up your confidence
So you can be on top for once
Wake up who cares about
Little boys that talk too much
I seen it all go down
Your game of love was all rained out
So come on baby, come on over
Let me be the one to hold you

I'm the one who wants to be with you
Deep inside I hope you feel it too
Waited on a line of greens and blues
Just to be the next to be with you

Why be alone when we can be together baby
You can make my life worthwhile
And I can make you start to smile

Hi Guys,

This line is from a song by Mr. Big.

I'm the one who wants to be with you
Deep inside I hope you feel it too
Waited on a line of greens and blues
Just to be the next to be with you
The phrase also occurs elsewhere, eg in a Cyndi Lauper song 'Good Enough', there is a line "here we are hanging on strands of greens and blues."

I couldn't find an explanation anywhere, although there is one suggestion that 'green means envy and blue means sadness'. My feeling is that it might be a reference to drugs, since I believe pills are often referred to by their colour.

But wait, how could that be possible? A reference to drugs in a song by Mr. Big! How could I think such a thing?

Best wishes, Clive

The line "just to be the next to be with you" (THE NEXT) makes me think of those painted lines on the floors of banks and other public buildings where you are required to stand behind painted lines to to be served NEXT. Could it be he's waiting on painted lines to be the next to see her?

Probably a stretch, but that's what comes to my mind.

Hi Stevenukd, i hope you have the interpretation of the line above since, but here is my opinion. I think it reffers to the horizon, where the land (greens) and the sky (blues) meet. You know, waiting for the girl to be single, lonely. Perhaps now she is with somebody else or not ready to a relationship, or simply not in love with the singer. Any other idea? I don't think at all that it is about drugs or standing in a real line, e.g. in a store. Emotion: smile

I actually wrote the band, the singer, and he said it has to do with mood rings, waiting for her to change her mood. I wish I still had it, you could always contact him yourself.

This is just my personal opinion but I think #6 greens and blues... is that green represents envy or jealously and blue represents sadness. The song is about waiting for someone and having to stand all the emotions that come with waiting and watching.
