If I had the money, I would buy a new car.

The above is fine; it is a conditional sentence. This maybe an event took place yesterday or 10 or 15 years ago.

Is this correct?
If this is correct, what would be the context for it? It can't be yesterday or 10 years ago.

If I had the money right now, I would buy a new car.
(=I don't have the money right now. So I cannot buy a new car.)

If I had had the money 10 years ago, I would have bought a new car.
(=I didn't have the money 10 years ago. So I didn't buy a new car.)

I beg to differ.

If I have money, I will buy a new car.

The above means I don't have the money nowadays/right now so I can't buy a new car.
