I am confused with had and have. For example,
I have added the required details in the document
I had added the required details in the document
Which is correct?

It depends on the time frame.
'I have added the required details in the document.'-- sometime between an unspecified point in the past and now.
'I had added the required details in the document.'-- sometime between one unspecified point in the past and a later (here, unspecified) point, in the more recent past. This sentence needs to be placed in conjunction with another sentence or clause specifying the second point:
'I had added the required details in the document when the attorney arrived.'

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master-- that's all.'
