Dear [NAME OF RECIPIENT],

My name is [YOUR NAME], and I am very interested in participating in your London English course.  I would asses my own English abilities as merely mediocre, but learning English has been a very rewarding experience for me thus far.  It has been in every sense a pleasure.  I anticipate that your course will help me tremendously in perfecting my grammar and vocabulary.  Honestly, I would like to learn as much as I can.  More than that, however, this course represents for me a way out and a hope for my future.  I am from [COUNTRY YOU ARE FROM], a poorer country, and I have small means.  I have gotten the impression that it would perhaps be possible for me to do a sort-of workstudy, performing a job in exchange for accomodations.  I am very willing to work for the privilege of studying at your institution, and I intend to work even harder in my studies should you choose to accept me.  I sincerely hope that you do, because I believe wholeheartedly that my future resides with the English language and with London.

Thank you for your time,

[YOUR FIRST NAME]

Hi,

YOU MAY WANT TO INSERT A MISTAKE OR TWO.

No kidding!   This letter suggests your English is already excellent.

My name is [YOUR NAME],

I normally tell my students that we don't say this at the start of a letter. Instead, the recipient knows your name is always at the end of the letter.

Best wishes, Clive
