Hello. Could anyone explain to me what the expression "hands down" mean?

I found the expression in the following sentence: I do know that everyone in the family agreed that my mother's pies were the best they'd ever tasted, hands down.

Thanks in advance.

It means without a doubt, no questions asked, etc.  It might come from the concept of no hands being raised in objection.
